This poll is actually kinda worthless since SushiTee's post is completely biased.
You give arguments about why smaller previews are better than larger ones but you don't give any argument about the other side... Your post is the only one that voters will read before voting. They can't make their one opinion before voting and are influenced by your post. Also, the lack of possibility to change our vote in the poll doesn't help. Finally using the word "fat" just encourages people to vote "small" as "fat" will be read as "too big" by most people.
About my opinion on the question, i voted for "fat" for a few good reasons.
First and most important point, I will compare the skins customizing process to a IRL make up.
When you make up you always make sure to be as close to the mirror as possible: the bigger u see yourself in the mirror, the more details you will see. It would be ridiculous to make up 3 meters away from the mirror, as you wouldn't be able to see every thing you would like to correct. It is exactly the same when you customize your skin: the bigger you see the tee, the more details you will see ; and you know your skin will be exactly like you want it to be if the skin preview is big. Obviously people don't come very close to you IRL to see every detail of your face and wouldn't notice everything, but all these details make a whole and you want to make sure you look as beautiful as possible. This is the same for skins: yes people will see your skin smaller ingame, but details will still matter.
I think this point prevails on every other point.
I'll just add that anyway there is enough place for "fat" skin previews as you can see in the screenshots provided by SushiTee.
Also i have seen some arguments in this thread about why "small" previews are better, and most of them are invalid in my opinion.

There is no way this can be a good argument and its not even logical. When you make up you don't go at the same distance from the mirror than from the people that will look at you.
oaký' wrote:even if you may see some more details in the big menu, you won't see them ingame, so they are unnecessary details
Definitely invalid for the reasons i explained.

This is hard to argue about this one as it's purely subjective. But shouldn't functionality always prevail on the look? I wouldn't mind a popup showing the tee taking half the size of the screen if it was possible, so that i can make my skin perfect. Obviously this is exaggerated because you don't need it that big because of the low number of details in a skin, but the idea is here. But yeah the "fat" previews look a bit too fat compared to the rest of the UI. What about increasing the text size by just a bit to compensate the difference and keep the functionality without letting the look aside?
Zatline wrote:Another positive aspect is that the degree of sharpness will be better...
Honestly this is the best point i've heard so far because it matters so much. The "small" previews look way more sharp than the "fat" ones.
That said no-one ever complained about this in the 0.6 versions, and in 0.7 it is even sharper than in 0.6 with the same skin size (due to a few changes of the data files).
After making myself an opinion and hearing the arguments for both sides i really don't think making the previews smaller is a wise decision and i would consider it as a regression of the new menus/skins in 0.7 if this would get changed that way.
