Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

So change the Grenade and the Grenade Laucher to a different color than red or blue, like Black.
It looks like is a red team weapon only.

Btw, Opinion about 0.7

Now it divides official gametypes of unofficial ones on the list.

Official Gametypes:
(Servers)
Unofficial Gametypes:
(Servers)

Wtf is this?
Why is Teeworlds Open-Source anyway?

Weapons are weapons. They aren't any different for other people or teams.

Exactly! It would be like you take a gun and it turns red and then i take it and it turns blue. (in real life)

I do not know wrote:

I think changing the laser color to the team color would be a nice feature

Maybe... It would help to know if that someone off screen is a friend or foe. But lasers travel in an instant so this doesn't help much.

Grenades however can fall down for quite some time before timed detonation. Knowing if this is a grenade of an enemy or a teammate would really help.

But I do not support all these ideas. Just as weapons are weapons so too projectiles are projectiles. And it kills the question: Should I avoid this grenade and lose my enemy in a chase for the sake of my life?

Maybe u should take a look again at the Serverbrowserlist:
-All
-Standard Gametypes
-Favorites

If u don't want to play standard Gametypes simply minimize that tab ..
And nothing really changed.. just the way it displays stuff..

Maybe you should read my topic again and then compile Teeworlds (From Github).
On 0.7 Mods and Vanilla Servers are separated between lists on The Internet page

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

And I think this is really good. If you want to play a mod, you still can easily do that, but especially new players will more likely try vanilla servers. Also there is now organization in the serverborwser list, it's now much more easy to go through it in my opinion. I don't see any drawbacks. And as you said, teeworlds IS open source, so you can easily revert that if you want. I don't really see in what way this takes away freedom from users and coders? oO

Teeworlds is Open Source, it's supposed to have freedom to make whatever people want to, so, I think that devs should never try to make barriers like they are doing.
On 0.6, the default configs make you see only official gametypes and maps, on 0.7, they are creating lists of official gametypes and mods.
What next?
Why does devs and many forum members hate mods, like DDRace?
Is DDRace really a shit? So what's the reason that makes people create DDRace maps, and not CTF maps?
Probably because people prefer to play DDRace servers than CTF servers.
Everyone knows that I'm saying a true, (even Mod Haters know that Mod Gametypes have more fans than Vanilla Gametypes)
Why is this battle installed on Teeworlds?
I mean, Isn't that sufficient to have a "Only See Official Gametypes" and "Only See Official Maps" tags on the server browser? Is it really needed to make a different section between Mods and Official Gametypes?
If Devs hate Mods, and want people to play Official Gametypes, change Teeworlds License, stop Making Teeworlds a Open Source game.

And thats the reason why we are trying to show new players vanilla first, so they won't leave teeworlds after 2 minutes with shitty mods.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

Holy fuck, this is called PROMOTING, not like we would forbid mods. You still can very easily play mods, it simply makes things clearer and pushes newcomers to play vanilla. Nothing is wrong in this, the game being open source doesn't mean we will promote bullshit mods.

1. The hook was present in 0.1.0

2. DDRace is NOT shit. (DDWar ; RDDRace ; +DDRace are)

3. Vanilla is fantastic and players should know that.

4. Will this "Vanilla vs. DDRace" discussion ever end?
It's offtopic anyway.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

DDRace is a totally different gametype, more to an online puzzle/platformer. That is a great invention and totally original gameplay i can only compare to the co-op mode in Portal 2. However, this is NOT a Teeworlds. I would rather make DDRace an independent game.
When there's some little additions to the game, it's called modification. But in this case the game was reworked into completely another game. Like it often happens in Blizzard games maps. I don't think that's kind of a situation developers should support.

How about you stop allowing mods, and in 0.7 have some fake mod servers set up and if anyone connects they're instantly banned from the entire game

Any mod harms vanilla or no mod harms vanilla. smile

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

All mods increase the exposure to regular Teeworlds, imo. No one can play a mod without at least seeing Vanilla exists even as it is now, but I don't mind separating the servers... oO

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

It seems some of you still forget what we are actually developing. Sure, teeworlds is an open source game, but does that mean we need to leave all things open for mods? No, it does not, since we are NOT developing a 2d game engine. We are developing only teeworlds, and we want teeworlds to be as much fun as possible and we also want people to play the real teeworlds.

Sure, there are some quality mods out there, but compared to the number of "crap" mods, the chance for a new player to enter a server that hosts a really bad mod, which then makes the player immediately stop playing teeworlds at all is quite high. The new system of how the servers are displayed might change this at least a little.

On the other hand, if you want to play a certain mod, there is still nothing at all that keeps you from doing it. In fact I think with the new way how things are displayed, it might be even easier to find a good server hosting the mod you want to play.

As I mentioned before, if you are not happy how things are going, just do a fork and do the stuff on your own.

Well...At least the "Standard gametype" filter is on by default. (until they find out and turn it off)

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

At the current trunk you see every server(mod and standard) on default settings (only ping filter)
If u scroll down the list of ~1000 server, u see a section of the standard gametypes..
So u can't really say there is some kind of serious seperation between the servers

I also agree with ghost:
Development mainly focuses on the game itself and not really the engine
Current devs don't really care much about mods at the moment. Still more than enough changes to do on the original gamein my humble opinion.
I think people who download teeworlds for the first time mainly want to play the original game at first
