Topic: [GAME] tStory - android game, inspired by teeworlds

Hi everyone! With my brother we are working on android game - tStory. We are inspired by Teeworlds and want to transfer this game-style to another game on android OS with singleplayer experience.

At this time we are making engine, planning and thiking about story, about details of game. It will be singleplayer game. Maybe there will be multiplayer (1vs1 mode by bluetooth).

At this time we have some game-drafts:

draft 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgFlZeOiwuE

draft 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mz3eZgwk15c
In draft 2 we have added some physics and 3 types of boxes: explodable, indestructible and destructible. We have added weapon/hook switch also.

---------------------------------------------
We test our project on Galaxy Nexus (android 4.1.1), Galaxy S Plus (2.3.6) and Galaxy Gio (2.2). And also on tablet Galaxy Tab 10.1 (4.0.4).

We need ideas and any responses from Teeworlds community.

Thanks!

This is not just "inspired by teeworlds", you are using its graphics and gameplay.
Why present it as a separate game and not as a port of teeworlds under android ?

Also, the hook seems difficult to use.

Really cool idea.
Keep working! I would love to play it, and 1on1 via bluetooth? Awesome.
Anyway, it would be nice to play X on X via Wifi (X players on the same connection)

It could be cool to have a D-Pad to control weapons/hook and not randomly press the screen...
It's just an opinion.

Using stick to control direction of weapon/hook is bad. Its very dificult to take in mind real direction and press another direction on stick.

But we think about some switchable variants of controling.

Check out the iOS game Dinosmash, which uses two d-pads very effectively. Many people got very pro at that game. But it looks good anyway... I love the boxes and throwing them around, the physics look really cool, although my dream would be to play ctf or ddrace on mobile tongue. Still you could make some cool puzzles or something with that. Are you going to focus on fighting AI or solving puzzles? Or maybe have some storyline?

Dinosmath's controls have a big problems: you cant run/jump to one side and shoot/hook to another.
----------
Singleplayer: story mode (different maps: from start to finish, where will be enemy/puzzles), some another modes... (race, ...).
Multiplayer: 1v1 bluetooth, ...

Actually you can, you just have to get used to it. However, it will cause you to stall in the air for a small moment while you spin and shoot. I used to do it all of the time in DinoSmash.

Re: [GAME] tStory - android game, inspired by teeworlds

I know this may go against the idea of an android game as it requires "too" many fingers, but there are surfaces everywhere you go so you could just use those (your lap included) so it would be fine.

Once you put a cellphone on a surface it frees up all your fingers so you not limited to just your thumbs, which makes the left/right/up (jump) configuration work exactly like a computer would. In regards to aiming, the aiming system can work the same as you currently got it (single finger input aims the tee towards it). The difference would be in the shooting, which I recommend that you would use a second input ( your middle finger) to fire the weapon. So you aim with your index finger continuously and shoot with your middle finger. Allows you to do all three things at once aiming, moving and shooting. The experience wouldn't different too much from ordinary teeworlds. The only issue (which you also have) is that you can't grapple and shoot at the same time. A suggestion for this could be to have that the 2nd input, that is in charge of the weapon, shoot the weapon if you tap but would grapple if you do a quick drag motion.

I hope I explained that well enough xD If people don't understand what I am getting at just say and I will try rephrase it. With the way you have your controls atm, I can't see myself downloading and playing the game just because it isn't intuitive and it is very limiting. I love that you guys are trying to port teeworlds to android as it is such a fun game smile

Problem is that many smartphones recognize only 2 touchs at the moment. Not expensive phones like Galaxe Ace.

>Actually you can, you just have to get used to it

O_o I watched video... Dont understand how... I will try to play on iPhone.

Zgokee
I tryed Dinosmath. I cant run and shoot/hook in different sides, as i said.

But this style good for nonProfi gamers. I think, we wll add this d-pad as secong control style in options.

Ignore them, they're lying. I own DinoSmash and I can say with certainty that what they are saying is impossible to do. Probably developers of the game trying to advertise their game lol

Why you dont make a new gamemode out of it, omg this hookable things are awesome.
And you could do much with them.

Try to get it on a mountain to a pressure plate which can be only affected by this items.

Hooking a play right in safetry through freeze with the item holding to lay it on a plate.

It would be quite awesome, wouldnt it be?

Re: [GAME] tStory - android game, inspired by teeworlds

Or maybe  make a round box , that has the ability to change its possision with yours.
That way you could play ddrace maps by your self or wiith friends. And maybe a career mode that will have something similar to the zChaos mod. It would save each 3 rounds in the begin, later it gets hard
Then it would save each 10 rounds. This depends on the difficulty you pick.(this all offline, except the multyplayer)

PS: please upload a dowload link ..

Teeworlds!!!!

Re: [GAME] tStory - android game, inspired by teeworlds

I think it has more Multiplayer potential, it's like a dummy and not a dummy haha big_smile

There could be round boxes that roll when you throw them.
And the normals just stay where you throw.
So there could be like that you hook a player and he hooks the box and trying not to bring the player into freeze <3, then shooting it up with 2 players up to a mountain one kicks the player, the player hooks the box and throw. Or like 2 pressure plates that open then a gate.

SO MANY IDEAS I HAVE OMG XD
