Topic: Remove certain commands from release

tune: People start topics like this this and ask why doesn't tuning work and ask why isn't it possible to tune CTF.

dbg_stress: Frequently used to spam.

They could be kept in teeworlds_d and teeworlds_srv_d.

Why would you not allow a bit of tuning at all? And the debug option was added for some reason... and is quite important for some coders!

Yeah, for coders only! I suggest to remove these commands from the release version, but not from the debug version, eg. if a coder wants to use these commands, he should compile Teeworlds in debug mode, with bam server_debug and bam client_debug.

Re: Remove certain commands from release

I think that you're absolutely right. smile

Re: Remove certain commands from release

tune shouldn't be removed. A message that it is not available in vanilla is enough. For mods you need tunings.

Re: Remove certain commands from release

I agree these features should be moved to a debug version. There is really no mod in need of tunes, and if they really miss it, they still can get it back to the non-debug version, it's not difficult.

Re: Remove certain commands from release

I think dbg_stress gets you kicked out of a game now, right?

And for tunes, it should say, "Server tuning is not available with CTF, DM, or TDM! Use gametype MOD!"

Re: Remove certain commands from release

dbg_stress will simulate all sorts of input, also connecting a server and disconnecting. It is used to do stress tests for the server. You start 16 clients on your local machine with dbg_stress and let them stress your local server.

Re: Remove certain commands from release

all dbg_* commands could be removed, but as botox already said tune should stay in the release bins

Teeworlds is going to die anyway if not ported to technologies of the future. The current engine isn't worth to care about.

Teeworlds is going to die because developers are corrupted... all ppl that i know say the same.

So true. I paid Oy for him to buff the shotgun damage.

Seriously, corrupted? These are free game developers, not government employees.

"So true. I paid Oy for him to buff the shotgun damage."  -> Cool Dune. +1 for you.. (Looking for points with this sentence right?)

"Seriously, corrupted? These are free game developers, not government employees." -> Oh! so true... I was when it decided not to integrate the complex physical game, when the radar is not allowed or when it was decided to incorporate the self-mapper ... No? or when it decided not make "DDRace" official gametype...

"What is this doing here?" -> Not even doing a sketch, you would understand what is shown in the video...

Dune you are the big shit of this forum... wink

Re: Remove certain commands from release

Ah the beauty of open source indie game development: with it's source code open it attracts young programmers;as an indie game project it's the spirit of team work that combines and results in something great.

So no: I dont think the devs are corrupted (o.O). They just want the game to remain KISS. Only I wonder why they hesitate to incorporate a feature which only makes things better and is KISS.

btw: Awesome map editor!
