Prepare for the truth...

Hello to all tees out there! Today Bee and I are proud to present a new map series... TeeLegend!

Years ago. Thousands of years in the past, there was a great teacher named Matricks. After years and years of training, he became an undefeatable master at fighting. He decided to create a school to teach young tees about the art of vanilla, which opened up a new reality. Many young students began to join, and learned to become powerful tees. After several generations, a greater evil was boiling. The pot had been opened. A demonic warlord named DDRace came and challenged Matricks. After all the student tees hid in the shadows of their caves, the battle was over in a second. Matricks was not seen again. Since Matricks was an immortal, the only explanation the tees had was that the Evil DDRace had locked him up somewhere. Somewhere secret. The school they had once learned in was now a pile of rubble.
Years into the future, two great explorers, Bee and Alias, have found clues to the existence of the sacred school. A pathway, building into the sky, has been uncovered. Creating a roadmap for the future tees, they have trailed the surface into the high ends of the sky. Follow them on their journey as they hunt of the "School in the Clouds", find hidden paths, dodge obstacles, and so much more. The time has come. Will you be brave enough to do something about it?

No screenshots yet, because the maps are so large that they do not appear in the editor

There are 2 maps so far.

  • TeeLegend One - Discovery.

  • TeeLegend Two - Climb.

You can test play these maps, host your own servers, edit them, do whatever! Just please give credits when you edit them (:

Please report bugs you find.

Last but not least, record demos of yourself playing (and hopefully beating) these maps! They are not too hard, nor too easy. If you find them too easy, please say so. If you find them too hard, don't say anything, because I won't change it big_smile.

P.S. I know that there are no doodads... once the map has bee confirmed as bug free, I will put finishing touches.. Also, I realize that creating these maps was pointless. It's eventually going to disappear like the once-awesome h_races. Hosts please!

Don't say we didn't warn you. These are some pretty hard maps and can cause temporary loss of sanity. Also, it's ctf based race, meaning if you die, you have to start all over again. wink These aren't for kiddies... these are for mad men and people with time to waste. *evil laugh*

Hey alias, I'll host your maps too smile I find them interesting and challenging, will open a ~TeeLegend~ spot for you in the call vote option on my ddrace sv smile (hosted 24/7 with 9 more servers), I'll give you details on the server afterwords ofc, Just 1 questoin.

Will the maps work correctly with the latest version of the DDRace mod? /Talking bout main_tiles order!

Hm? CTF!?! Well... i guess I'll wait for the final touch then, but you really should find a way to post some screenies! Congrats.

I suppose in the end we can convert all the maps to race format, but trust me, we aren't going to make them any easier by replacing the kills with telies. wink

this map is Really a Evil demon DDrace, no one play it, and server is always empty, because is hard, and impossible if alone....
we must find the heaven school? or where Matrix is captured?

Your story is amazing. Sounds veryvery epic xD. So you have a server with the map??? I want to try muhahahaha

Sorry alias, I really dislike the map.
This is for several reasons:

  • You are making some parts really hard to manage before 4/5 tries, and some others who are just about jumping and hooking a little bit

  • You really need to add some graphics, something to justify the link between your story and the map, because I don't see any.

  • The map is impossible to finish, and it's even very very boring to try to go to the 1/5 of the map without cheating. The difficulty comes in you don't have to mess up with any point - though it's really not human to manage it - and it's really a frustrating kind of race.

  • A really annoying point, you never

  • know where to go. Seriously, there's no arrows or I don't know what, so without cheating (means looking in the editor or using mods) you need to die once (at least) to know where to go

Indeed, if you want to make some hard maps, don't just make it 5x bigger than the normal with no checkpoint. That's not even funny. Everybody here is able to make each part after several tries, but making the whole map is impossible and really boring.

@ CarmineZ: These have nothing to do with DDRace. tongue CTF based race was the first race-type convinced even before the RACE mod was released let alone DDRace.
Yes, these are hard but we don't mind much. I personally, find them refreshing because they stray away from the easy DDRace maps which are generally impossible to lose. And no, they aren't impossible if done alone, although improbable. There are certain places where others can help each other out but they are mainly created for one player.

Oh and the story, it a load of bull. It's simply something creative Alas wanted to add. wink

@ Golol: Jep. Just search "TeeLedgend" and remember the password is "123".

@ Dune: ... You have some justifiable points. Even with my knowledge of the map I have but only once finished teelegend1 but never teelegend2 (but have come close). lol... I guess it shows how difficult it is even with map layout knowledge, so I propose four ways to make it bearable. 1: Adding comments to help guide players along the way. 2: Adding arrows to show at least which way to go. 3: Converting them to race and adding check points, which I rather not do just yet... And 4: Post a demo recording of someone finishing the map the correct way so players know what to do ahead of time.

The qualities I would rather keep in the map is to have it CTF-race and to have it creative and hard, but not impossible. I'm thinking the best thing to do is posting a demo or adding arrows, but what do you think is best?

Except the demo, all the points you posted will be helpful. The demo really won't helm, people won't watch it, and knowning how a player did finish the map is not really what would help us - in my opinion. It's a bit the same for the 1.

What I suggest you to do:
-> Add some clouds to help racers to locate themselves. That may seems stupid, but with an uniform background it's hard to know how fast you are going and where you are.

-> Put some arrows so that we always can manage a jump since the first try, not by guessing where it is or cheating.

-> Put two - maybe three checks. Ok, ok I get you want it to be CTF etc but seriously, just put TWO checks and it would be O.K. Doing so will probably also slighly reduce the difficiulty of the parts because of death tiles -> teleport change, but that won't be huge.


Ah, and btw the parts separately looks really nice for normal racing (congratz for that), but they would suck when played in team. No DDRace indeed.

I'll mow it over with Alas. I'm not relishing the idea of conversion to race. Most likely, we'll add arrows and brief comments then see how that gels with the players. If it's still too hard then race conversion is probable.

There are clouds in the map, I dont remember if there is in both but there are clouds

The first map has clouds, but at the top (which will change to near the bottom too) and the second map has stars to gauge how fast you're going.

Well, I tested it using the editor to know where to go, and I still feel the map is impossible - I'm not stuck at any part but stuck by the whole.
But hey, maybe some good racers can achieve this, but I still maintain it would be a quite less entertaining challenge for those players than trying to complete a map with 10 parts, spending 15 min for each.
I'm glad you fixed the arrows issue though.

If you asking about TeeLegend1, download and view wapps.warpaint. demo.
But if it's TeeLegend2, currently the end is located around the far-left-middle part of the map. (it's inside of the hill)

Really? What is those maps about? Each part of them is easy, but it's annoying replaying them again and again. Even if i really like the structure of the maps, it looks awesome, this maps are pretty senseless.
Try creating something shorter and harder, it makes more fun playing it. However, that doesn't mean you have to switch the whole idea of the map - it still can be long. But in this case add some checkpoints of something. Look at run_blood in MDC theard - you can make something like that, perhaps easier (my map is way too hard to be long).

Already we have complaints about the difficulty (being too hard). If you are good enough to beat it and think it's easy, congratulations... but we can't really up the difficulty due to the several complaints we already have.

Seems to be an interesting map idea.
Lol on the backstory though. You managed to rephrase the truth of the history of teeworlds in a more... personifying way. I like it. I'll try testing it later.
