Topic: Any illustrator skin tutorials?

I have been looking for a good illustrator player skin tutorial. Every time I save my skin the size changes or something gets messed up but it looks right when I go to save hmm ..I have made a few in the past but it has been a year or so.

Just curious if anyone has made a skin tutorial for Illustrator out there before I try inkscape since I use it on a regular basis.

Hi Yeti, I think you know me... You are very good with illustrator oO.

Maybe you already have seen this thread, but on the other hand, maybe you haven't.

So what do you mean by the "something gets messed up"?

Re: Any illustrator skin tutorials?

Hey Alias! Thanks for the response. I haven't seen that thread. I'll look through it in a bit. The problem I have just found out is that my illustrator document set up at 256 X 128 pixels and seems fine. But when I save as a .png and preserve transparency my document changes to where the nontransparent image ends. So the image will go all the way to the edge of the document instead of having the space around it. If that makes sense.. heh. so it becomes 226 X 114 pixels with no space around the edges on the outside. I'll try playing with the settings more or download inkscape and try to copy and paste into that program.

By the way I've been meaning to tell you your teeworlds artwork is rockin. :] If you ever get a chance check out illustrationmundo. you can google it. I remember you asking if there was any way I could help with your art (not that I think you need it) and practice is one. Looking at amazing artists work is another! So many great styles are out there.

Re: Any illustrator skin tutorials?

I think I know what you are talking about.

In inkscape, you can solve that by "ctrl + shift + e" to export as a PNG. (I know, same keys as map editor). Then you select "export entire page" and export it.

Not sure about illustrator. Try to export the entire page, and not just the drawing area.. i'm not sure. sorry.

I use Illustrator as well, and there is a very simple solution. Make a white square that takes up the entire document space and make that 0% opacity, then export.

I need to figure out something to put here.

I have AI CS4 and I'd love to test it with teeworlds graphics, but I don't really have the time to do it. If so. creates a teeworlds AI tutorial I'd test it and give feedback. smile

Re: Any illustrator skin tutorials?

1. Save for web and devices
2. Choose the "Image Size"- Tab
3. And click to export the entire canvas
4. And then apply :>

Re: Any illustrator skin tutorials?

Awesome! It was right where you said D1ce!! Thanks for everyone for all the help. I've never made a video on my computer but maybe I will try to figure that out and put together an illustrator tutorial.. it could be helpful to others (though I am running CS3 I am sure it is still pretty similar.) Guess I should get to work on some skins! wink
