i think it will be amazing in CTF (it will be comfortable even for lan players)

Re: a radar? =)))))))

I think it wouldn't fit very good into teewars... one part of the game is to predict where the opponents will come from, and place grenades there before you see them.

it will be very helpful if i see the teammates spots on a radar- that will help me to predict the situation

Sounds interesting...

I'd disable it in favour of being able to see the action, then tee about it because it gave everyone else an advantage. big_smile

Minimap, which show your teammates ? Well, it's would be useful for teamplay.

You never know if someone defending flag or trying to capture enemy's. Radar would be nice, or some kind of short description what shows teammates positions.

teammates only

i think that a minimap would be a bad idea it would spoil the simplicity of the game (don't think i spelled that right but that doesn't matter considering its 2 a.m.) and the "simple and fun idea behind teewars. You don't know who is attacking and defending? well thats what the chat and team chat is for even though it isn't all that easy when your shooting at each other. maybe an idea for voice chat:p

15

Re: a radar? =)))))))

i dont think teewars is simple
im telling about a radar, not minimap
feel the difference

im telling about radar like in CS, may be not so ugly one

Re: a radar? =)))))))

would spoil the simplicity of the game

1) TeeWars 'bout fun, not primitiviness. If you want simple things - go play pong. No, really -_-. BTW: useless simplifications is worst enemey of simplicity, if you want to know.
2) It's will add some tactics. Maybe some order (so beloved by developers:)) too. In Worms (when it's not so crititical) you can view all map at any time, just to know what's going on. In Team Buddies (where things going in real-time) you has mini-map and binocular. Well, at war - information is one of most valuable things.

maybe an idea for voice chat:p

Yes-yes, great idea, when there are lot's of non-English players... Are you heard 'bout accent thingy ? And accent is only for people, who know language, not just trying to imitate it with dictionary...

i think voice teamchat would be nice, if it will be better than teamspeak or ventrillo

i think voice teamchat would be nice

Sure ! But not as replacement of mini-map.

Re: a radar? =)))))))

I've exprimented with this a bit before. I don't want a rader/minimap that shows were the enemies are. That just feels weird. However some sort of indication of your teammates would be nice for when you play CTF to see how the flag carrier/base defender is doing. How exactly how this will be done, I'm not sure.

A plain rader is kinda, not teewars, and it doesn't show the condition that the teammates are in, same goes for minimap. A box that shows all the players on you team with health etc is a bit better but it doesn't give away the location. Having regions in the map for different locations is an option but becomes a hell when we want to do localization.

Not sure how this should be done, I have to think more about it before doing something about it.

Re: a radar? =)))))))

Matricks, maybe something like the tab button (but that's in use, so maybe another one) to bring up a kind of shrunken map view.

No, that is not me; it's just a figment of your imagination.

How 'bout showing name and health only when your mouse pointer hovers over Tee's representation on minimap ?

X & Y will be fine too -_-...

How about this one:

Color (green, yellow and red) is health indicator and arrow shows teammates direction (position).

Re: a radar? =)))))))

nice, but it takes too much of space.........if the screen was larger......;-)

am i only person who wants the screen of teewars to be larger?

bigger screen+bigger map+larger distance of shooting =}}}}}}}

Re: a radar? =)))))))

Well, nice idea, Warhammer. But if you got like 6 players in the team (includig youself) and five of those signs floating, it'd just irritate. D=

Also, to rely on the main topic, I don't think a radar/minimap would be neccessary, since most of the servers are predetermining on the default DM and CTF maps, which aren't really big. And finding foes in the area won't be that difficult.

I'd say, maybe for teamplays, because that could be important. But how to design that... No idea. =/
