Keyboard: Weapon Layout !! (Page 1 of 2)

ahaha ofc I use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 but only in vanilla or vanilla like games where i need a fast weapons switch (i play mostly instagib, vanilla... 5 or 6 times in a year ).
It's really handy once u get used to it... c'moon u never played fps games?

I move with A and D, my weapons switch is Q previous and E next (i don't like the scroll, i use it.. to say xD and to use a modification from my gamer client)

Still... my whole kb is binded for tw... xD if u want i can tell you all my binds, it will give u some ideas

Moment is the typical [A][S][D][W];
I hook with [space bar], shoot with right click;
Jump and 2x jump with [W];
Weapon switch with scrolling up or down and specifically: Hammer: [1], Gun: [2], Rifle: [3], Bazooka: [4], and Laser: [5];
and I play Vanilla quite often.

Gun: W
Hammer: Q
Grenade: S
Rifle: mouse6 (key on the left side of my mouse - mx518)
Shotgun: mouse7 (same as 6)

Move: A, D, space

1 Shotgun
2 Grenade
3 Pistol
4 Hammer
5 Laser

Move: A and D
Jump: Space

question: does anyone use mousewheelup to move left and mousewheeldown to move right? sounds funny

eh sometimes, yeah.

A - left
D - right
W - jump
1 - hammer
2 - pistol (trying to move to Q = hammer, E = pistol)
3 - shotgun
4 - grenades
lshift - rail (this is in a perfect spot for quick switches imo, who cares about the emote menu)
mouse1 - fire
mouse2 - hook
mouse6/7 (side buttons) - dyncam on/off, can't remember which one was which
also a few say_team binds for CTF, but many of those are unnecessary and I lack some useful ones

I've developed a horrendous habit of clicking right click with my middle finger (happens only on Teeworlds btw) - now I'm trying to bind stuff at mwheelup/down but failing hard at it. Damn you, muscle memory!

Once you get used to it, no it isn't. Actually when I tried to move away from 12345 (or (1234 lshift actually) I felt really really awkward and reverted back to the old layout after a day or so.

Which leads me to the thing that practically forced me to a better direction:

Bought one of these about a month ago on sale for ~29€, as a replacement for my laptop keyboard (crappy keys and wrist strain) when gaming. I didn't need/have space/money for a full keyboard, and that thing felt just perfectly fit in my hand.

After a few days of getting used to, and fiddling around with the bindings (I remember people bitching on some games about how much I sucked, this is the excuse ) I found myself happy with this setup, or how it would translate on a normal keyboard:

A = left
D = right
W = jump
Q = hammer
Caps Lock = pistol (as weird as it sounds. it's the button next to the left/A one, i switched it to function as the 2 key instead of caps lock though)
S = shotgun
E = grenades
lshift = laser (the button in the down left corner)

The "spacebar" key functions as tab (shows the scoreboard), the d-pad is used for team binds, and other buttons are pretty much free as of now.

left : a
right: d
jump / double jump : space
pistol: e
hammer : q
grenade : w
shotgun : s
laser : f

got this one since i started the game means since i start switching weapons through buttons rather than mousewheel up / down

I don't use buttons, i scroll with mouse3, goes MUCH Faster.
