Topic: won't tile right! help!
Hi everyone,
I'm going completely insane trying to figure out why something I made won't tile right.
The mushrooms in the image were made in Inkscape, exported, changed to 72 res, and pasted into the tileset I'm making (all the rest of which was made in GIMP for whatever it's worth, although I can't imagine why it would matter).
All the other tiles I've made look right in-game. The mushroom parts, however, don't tile correctly. I've tried them in their own file (tried that first; no I'm not intending to have "doodad" type art in with the main tiles), in different locations in the image, etc, etc. Nothing works. Am I missing something about the requirements for Teeworlds graphics?
1024x1024 .png at 72 resolution, right? Other than the graphics being in the right place, is anything else required for an image to tile right?
I see references to blowing up dimensions to 4x size, pasting in the graphics, and scaling back down. Other than whatever advantage there is in using the raster program's scaling capabilities instead of just using whatever your vector program spits out, is there any other point to this? I made the "main" tiles in the tileset I'm working on without doing this, just making them at normal resolution in GIMP, and regardless of whether this approach is good aesthetically, the tiles look right in-game.
