Topic: [HELP] Problem with my tileset

Well, I've searched high and low for an answer to my question, and couldn't find any, so please don't close the thread.

Anyway, I decided to stop making tiles in Photoshop, so instead I made some in Illustrator. I exported them to PNGs, and made sure to make them 1024x1024 in size. Unfortunately these did not worked in the Map Editor. There were some small artifacts such as distortions, but worst of all, some pieces got cut off, so there was no integration between two tiles. I then checked everything in photoshop to make sure it was the same as grass_main. 1024x1024. Check. 64px tiles. Check. 72pixels per inch. Check. RGB colour mode. Check. I then realigned everything to makes sure it was pixel perfect. It looked okay in Photoshop, but in the map editor, nothing changed.

I have come to the conclusion that there must be something wrong with the image formatting itself. I know I should use PNGs, but is the Illustrator PNG the wrong kind? Should I downgrade to Inkscape?

Thanks

I need to figure out something to put here.

Re: [HELP] Problem with my tileset

you need to dilate and borderfix the .png
The dilate and borderfix executeables can be compiled from source.

You must download the source.

EDIT: I found the files, no how do I use them? Someone said to drag it in to the icon, but that doesn't change anything. Is there any other way? neutral

EDIT2: Oh, I need to compile it (make it executable). There should be a tutorial — one with screenshots, however — that describes tileset-making step by step for people like me who are not proficient with the command line.

EDIT3: This is annoying; I got a compiler error because the library at the beginning wants to include a file that is not there. Any idea what this is?

I need to figure out something to put here.

Okay, I compiled it. Here are both of the fixes in PPC and X86 versions. big_smile

Re: [HELP] Problem with my tileset

I know, this is a really old thread, but I don't know, how to use dilate and borderfix on my Mac OS X 10.6...
I thought, I have to drag the picture on dilate/borderfix, but that doesn't work. Then I tried to drag dilate/borderfix on the picture, but that doesn't work too. In both cases nothing happened.
My second question is: If dilate/borderfix works, in wich sequence I have to use them?

Sorry for my bad english hmm

Re: [HELP] Problem with my tileset

I think the order doesn't matter, but.. how do you know it didn't work?

Re: [HELP] Problem with my tileset

I tried to drag and drop, but nothing happened, I only relocate the picture into the folder with dilate and borderfix. I can't open the picture with dilate/borderfix.

Re: [HELP] Problem with my tileset

You cannot see any effect after dropping the file onto the dilate/boardfix file directly im this folder.
I guess you have a skin or a tileset which looks ingame pretty ugly (white lines around the picture etc.). Normaly after dropping your picture onto the dilate/boardfix those lines should dissapear. So, look ingame if something changes or not and report the result here. If you already did this and it still didn't work, ignore this. (:

Re: [HELP] Problem with my tileset

It didn't work. The problem is, I can't open the picture. The effect is nothing, because it is the same, as if I would drag and drop the picture into an empty folder. And if I start dilate or borderfix with an doubleclick, the Terminal says:
not an RGBA image
