[Question] More Weapons

Is it possible to make more weapons by making a command like /switch which gives the weapon u hold another funktion?
Lets say u have a shotgun.
It shoots normal bullets.
Now if u use the switch command u can shoot explosions with the shotgun.

Would something like that be possible?

Could be usefull and funny for many gametypes...
