Topic: [MOD]Request (3way_CTF)

Hello every one. big_smile


I have all ways wanted to have a new mod with a 3-way CTF:)

Like there would be a: Red, Blue, and Yellow team, with there own bases.

How it would work: Mostly, everything would be the same like in Normal CTF; expect a new team, with a new flag to get...and other stuff...

If one team (lets say blue team) get's the red flag, and captures it, they get 100 points right?  Well with 3-way CTF, you can get both team's flags; and if you capture both team's flags, then your team gets 250 points! Also if you have one of the flags already; you will get 2 pints for the section flag!

It would look something like this...

This is how I though it should look like with 3 teams.

On the bottom right you will see 3 markers. A yellow one with a scoring of 0, and orange with a scoring of 3 and a blue one with a scoring of 2.

This means that the red team has 2 points and that Caption Morgan has the blue flag.
The blue team has 3 points and that Bee has the Red and yellow flag, (that is why it is orange. (and it would be purple if the yellow team has both flags, and it would be green if the red team has both flags))
And the yellow team has 0 points and no one has the flag.


And also if a tee has both flags, it would be placed something like that on the tee. (with the section flag pointing to the left)...

Tell me if anyone likes the idea, and I will post a game skin with the yellow flag in it.
The entities with the yellow team spawn point, and the yellow flag point.

But some one else would have to make the mod.
(I can't make mods, they are to complex for my lil' brain. >,<)

ahh i just realised... i dont think you could make it on a server. an expert would have to remod the whole game and post a new version to get another team on the list sad

Exactly. when im done with the freeze mod and some other ideas, i might try to add a client + server mod. but i wonder if many people would play big_smile

Great. but all the clients would need to download the game and most clients dont go on this forum anyway and its much easier just for people to host servers sad

xP sounds special and interesting

but before getting started how would look maps with 3 bases ??

i think there is the problem in this mod and in the end it will fail at this point to as long there isn´t a good playable solution for it

Well I was thinking of editing ctf5 with the yellow base in the top middle part of the map.
But I would make it look nice. smile

the maps would be the problem i mentoined how to position the bases so that none of he teams have an advantage if you edit ctf5 and put it in the top middle of it ,
it would have an advantage because it is easy spamming from above and the other two teams have to come from above.

It is impossible to do that for the moment, especially add a new team.

Hm maybe it would be easier to have FOUR teams, then you cóuld make symmetrical maps.

And what about just putting more flags like in domination mod? Then you would not need a new client for it.

it´s a great idea but who is abel to code that
i think 4 teams are better because than you can switch 2teams vs 2teams or all teams vs all teams
maybe ask the developer

i could make the blue and red team be split off once again.
So the top of the blue team (in scoreboard) has maybe [B1] and the bottom has [B2].
The adding of new flags actually is incorrect aswell.
The white flag is just a map background afaik and it changes to a blue or red map if its conquered (correct me if im wrong).

Team colors would be dark blue and light blue for example.

I could make 2 spawn points for blue and for red but though it would be hard.
When i got much time ill try to do it maybe...maybe! xD

i wanted that. imagine a 4v4v4v4. it would be chaotic! ther could be talk to"this" team option and there would be hidden alliances and gang ups lol. but there would be a kind of unfairness b/c the noob team gets picked on for the flag.

maybe  not 4 flags but 4 teams 2 teams on each side and 2 flags so it is fair in killing and stealing.

but all 4 teams can kill and get the flag for team points. not points 4 each side

It is a really big project.
If you are going to make it, this is where I was thinking the flag should go in the game skin...

Btw the adding of the new flags is correct. neutral
They get there color by, what image is in the correct place in the game skin.

2teams vs 2teams is just like Blue vs Red. neutral

Well if we make it 4 teams rather than 3 teams, then that means... at the most... each team can only have 4 players.

Even if you change the max player limit, you would have to make it 32. o-0

And having 32 people playing at the same time at the same sever, probably never would happen... sad

no this is a mod. it wont become part of teeworlds. and what u said above. 2teams v 2 teams is not really like that. its 2v2 for stealing flags but when it comes to killing and CAPTURING the flag, everyone is on theur seperate teams. and example of this is light blue and dark blue against light red w/ dark red. a d. blue can steal the red flag but as they are heading back, they get shot down by a light blue and the light blue scoops up the flag and scores for the LIGHT BLUE's team.

i hope that clears up what i want.

anyways, 3 teams is imbalanced. if 2 teams have a [half] alliance. the third team is screwed

Not to be a party crasher, but why spend time creating unbalanced mods? CTF is balanced because maps are symmetrical. If you have more than 2 teams, map can't be symmetrical anymore. Up and Down != symmetry because of gravity.

The only true symmetry in the game is two bases, same level, like all official CTF maps except ctf1 (which is still more balanced that a map where a base would be above another).

Although symmetry is obviously impossible, I'm sure that there are mapmakers out there who can balance the gravitational (dis)advantage by additional elements like more (or less) obstacles, usage of teleport tiles or whatever they come up with. There are many non-symmetrical maps in existence who are very popular.

i think at ctf2 because you can make it symerical
when go in the middle of the map and than from the middle you go up and there could be the yellow base and than its symetricaly but the way from the blue tam to the redteme must be the same like from red to yellow and from yellow to blue

How can you do "triangle gravity?". Having more height will always give an advantage.  The point of gravity would have to be the middle of the triangle. No mod can do this, it can probably work in another game, but in teeworlds the point gravity is way down.
