Having read the regulars' posts earlier in the thread, I realize my opinion on the hammer's game balance probably doesn't count for too much considering I just learned of Teeworlds' existence 3 days ago (heh ), but at least for now I do agree that it is too powerful.
Case in point: this screenshot.
Now, those four guys just below me seemed to have at least a decent amount of skill, and put up a heck of a fight with their guns. But I, having double their ping (and remember, only having the game a couple of days) made more kills button-mashing with the hammer than actually aiming with guns, and won (this one round ) anyway.
Not many people were abusing the hammer for this round, either; there really only were big hammer melees on the smallest map that was played on that server.
...Still, there is a certain charm to rapid hammering, especially in a game styled this "cute".
I'd say leave the reload/rapid fire rate alone, and halve the damage on it instead.
The game is still great fun overall regardless...thanks to the devs for making such an awesome little time-waster. Can't wait to see what the next version brings.

Yep... Actually i think the hammer damage was OK, but there are too many kids who think they are imba-pro's with the hammer
The hammer is just another weapon like any other. Theres no point calling players who prefer to use the hammer from time to time hammer-boons and other things. A kill is a kill, it doesnt matter whether u pull it off with a hammer, or with a nuclear rocket.

People should be allowed to play the game whatever style they want, that is what makes a game good; the possible chance that two completely different strategies is equally good, as long as one strategy isn't alot better than all others..

I program and i know how it is hard.
But you don't have just "progamed" a bad game with very good graphics, you have made the game of the year : simple, light, optimized, and beautiful (i love 2D ).
I agree with all of your improvements.
But i have a question... When the 0.5.0 release comes ???

Definitely before 3009.
Guess the best way to see actual progress, rather than guessing, is to follow the trac-system and see what changes? Or, for the more inpatient (since trac isn't updated everytime something is done (I guess)) check the CVS. The rest of us just has to wait and see.
Guess Real Life (tm) may play a part in progress (or lack of) too - and that's easy to forget.

p.s. we was practice a type of game where some players bging one inactive player to the top of level using grapping hook
