Topic: New Maps Archiv

hi@all,
i don`t know how i should start^^. Recently i found that the Maps Forum is really confusing and full of other stuff. So i thought about a other methode. At the letest month i created a stand a lone Programm with following options:
-view the Teeworlds Site
-Chat with other players in realtime
-Search maps about Mapname, Author or Date
-and help me to make my work easier contact me with your new Maps.

About viewieng the Teeworlds Site:
Here is a Picture about my Client and how does it looks if you view the original Teeworlds Homepage

it works like a browser you can visit other homepages, go forward or backward scroll down if you don`t have a scroll on you mouse or go to the home homepage (teeworlds). This feature is completely ready.

About the Chat:
The chat is really difficult because the chat is completely ready but i have some problems to integrate it. I hope that i fixe this problem.

With this chat you can chat with other players in realtime you can chat with all people or write private messages to the other people in the chatroom by clicking on their name.

About the Map Search:
The Map Search is my loved feature, because you can easilie search you map by the Mapname, Author or the Date. But now i have a pleased to all which build a map. Please write in this post which map you Created (Mapname) and on which Date you published it. Please tell me which Version is your map and is it a CTF/DM or TDM. I tried it so do it self, there are to much maps^^. Thanks. This Feature is completely ready

About the Upload:
I created an uploader to because i will save all map, pictures of your maps on my server because i don`t like downloading on raphidshare or othe thinks. The Uploader isn`t ready because i searched a server and i had to fix many bugs

So thanks for reading my bad English and please give me some critics if i should finish my work or delete it^^.
Now at the moment i can`t post the Client because first i will finish the Map Search database and fix some bugs.

nice work.. maybe you (we) can add teedb to your search wink like a teedb search/(multi)uploader or something smile
oh and btw requirements for your prog? os ? cpu? ram? ???

You are aware of the (at least) two map databases?

Maybe you could try to coordinate the uploader with them?

However I have my doubts about an external program, but why not go ahead and try. smile

I guess you included the windoze-IE-control, and thus the software only works for this OS (am i right?)

Edit: Maybe I was a bit rude with my feedback. It's nice that you are doing stuff for the community. But you should first consider if such a tool is useful and if the community needs such a thing (Another point is that teeworlds is multi-platform, Linux, Windows, Mac). There are already projects which try to collect maps, skins and other stuff for teeworlds. I don't think that your tool has a future - but thats only my opinion. Please don't take this as an offence.

no i don`t using the windoze-IE-control and if i will publish this tool i hope that i can publish it for Windows, OS and Linux.

i could try it but i am not the best coder because it was really hard for me to build that, what you see on the screenshorts but i will try it^^.

However what is the advantage of putting a browser and an irc client into your appllication? Its not that I don't have a browser and IRC already!

And why do I need to install an application at all? I like the normal approach much better, that is that I use my normal browser to access map databases, instead of installing an extra application for that.

BTW: You can even chat within the browser, your application would even easily be doable within one website using frames

And not that I'm really interested, but what http render engine *did* you use to display the teeworlds homepage?

i build the completely client in Flash and Flex 3 and i am using the new Adobe AIR software to convert it into an Window application. But i don`t know if i will finish my work, because the community isn`t really happy about the client^^.

Its not that were not happy, many of us just dont get what it offers in plus to what we have already. I like the classical approach too, use the browser to spam on the forums, irssi to idle in irc, etc etc. Try to think bout something useful, or team up with an existing project where u can help. ( Alternatively: learn django and rebuild this whole site and much more smile )
