3- git branch -b oypullrequest1 oy/master

I believe the correct way to do this would be

git checkout -b oypullrequest1 oy/master

This will result in the desired behaviour. The -b parameter is not even available for git branch.

The problem is, the graphics do not only need to look nice. If they are official, they need to fit perfectly into teeworlds. There have been many discussions about what exactly is "teeish" so I won't bring that back on again, but you could have a look at news.teesites.net. Landil has posted a lot about his progress in working with the tilesets there. If you have a look there, you will easyly realize, that creating really good tilesets and doodads is not as easy, as one might think in the beginning.

EDIT: you might also have a look at his blog directly: http://landil.posterous.com/

I do not get what you mean at all. If it is about an idea what should be implemented in the the new version, this is definitely not the right place.

About that font incompatibility stuff: That really is not much of a problem. I play with the latest github version of teeworlds all the time, and of course, it can be annoying sometimes, but this is not a major problem. Also as Sushi said before, when we release 0.5.3 most players will update to it, since there will also be an in-game message, if one is using an
outdated client.

What I believe needs to be done now is to create a small list of features, which we want to have in 0.5.3 and then freeze 0.5.3 . Then we need to make sure we get a very stable and bug-free release out there, and we will have plenty of time to concentrate on the major 0.6 issues. I believe there is not much to be done anymore, as most things are quite good atm. But we are getting more and more features, more and more new ideas for 0.6. If we keep it going like this and don't concentrate on the important 0.6 issues (implementing race, e.g.), we will never have a 0.6 release, as there are more and more features comming.

@sebcap26: I don't think this is a very good idea. The reason is that hooking is an very elementary part of movement for teeworlds, especially when playing on a higher level. In fact, the hook is what makes teeworlds so unique.  Making it a pickup would slow down the games a lot and it would even break the movement possibilities in many of the official maps. This is why I believe this to be a bad idea.

It is monitoring network traffic. Next time, when asking a question about a program which is not directly teeworlds related, please use google first, before you ask a question here.

Resizing images is not really teeworlds related, so this might not be the correct place to ask. However, if you created this with inkscape and exported it, there is an option to chenge the export resolution in the export dialog. If this is not the case you can use gimp or a similar program to change the scale. In gimp you would go to the dialog image->scale and change it to the corresponding size.

It's probably not those two ddosing us. The attacks are not against our teeworlds servers but against the hoster. He hosts many other projects, too, meaning their websites and other stuff.

Just to let you know, you can't have infinite bandwidth wink. What you probably mean is that you do not have any traffic limit. With bandwidth I mean the upload/download rate. Like if you have dsl 16000 at your home, your download rate is 16 mibt/s.

However, I am interested in a server for my team, the enSpired team. We do already have some clan servers, but unfortunately our hoster is suffering under frequent ddos attacks at the moment which results in our servers not being available sometimes.

More details about the specifications of the server could be talked about in irc(server: quaknet.org, channel: #bashcompany) or by pm.

Also: if you posses a vserver, are you also able to host voice servers like teamspeak/mumble/whatever? If yes, we would be interested in that, too.

Thank you a lot for this offer!

You could tell us a bit more about the service you are providing. Is the server hosted by you(meaning is it at your home)? Is the server going to online 24/7? You say it's ubuntu 10.08 which sounds very strange to me, as ubuntu versions are released every 1/2 year and are named after their release month. This means you get names like 9.04, 9.10, 10.04, 10.10(which is the current release). So which exactly do you use? Maybe you cold also give us some information about bandwidth and the capacities of the server, is it only a vserver, or is it a real root server and so on... Also the location of the serve can be very important: A server in Germany won't be much use for an US guy probably... I think you get now what I mean... Maybe if you give better information the interest in your service will be higher wink

I have one question: You get the donation rank "Donor", if you have donated to teeworlds. Do you have to do anything once you have done this donation or do you just have to wait for matricks to recognize it?

@jxsl13: I doubt he meant that....

@Ultrayano: As stated before, it is a closed source mod, which means you probably won't get the sources. But instead of coding another more or less useless mod I suggest you try to invest your new programming skills in contributing to the next official teeworlds release. The work for that is done here.

@Slayer: This is not the problem. The problem is he can't see any servers, because he is not able to connect to the master servers.

@Jose xMZx: Try removing settings.cfg and masters.cfg file in the folder which contains your settings. On windows this is the folder you get to when launching the config_directory.bat in your teeworlds folder. On linux this is the .teeworlds folder in our home folder. On Mac OS X this is the folder /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/Teeworlds.

Fisico: I named the teetv crew, which I believe denial belonged to, if I am not mistaken. This is somehow oftopic though, sorry for that...

There are some people interested in this, I already talked to them. But if you want to take this task, you need to make sure, you don't code it like "lalalala..." it needs to be a good and compact mod. If this is done correctly, I see no reasons why this should not be implemented into teeworlds one day. Maybe not in the 0.6 release, but a later release might include the survival gametype. Also please realize that the first version of the survival mod was coded by official developers and the people who were involved in teetv. So don't think there is no interest in this thing.

If you really need to work on mods instead of helping in the development of vanilla, please work on the survival mod. This mod might get included into teeworlds some day anyway, because as far as I know, it is the only mod which is sort of vanilla, meaning it does not invent any really new features. It's more like a different version of tdm. I wanted to do a trunk version of survival myself some time ago, but I just could not find the time to do it. If you work on it, please also make a corresponding client modification. Just setting the killed players to spec, as it's done in the latest version of the survival mod is not really sufficient. If we want to do it correctly, and if we want it included in vanilla teeworlds, we need a good hud for the survival mod. Maybe it would be a good idea to show the "dead" players only in grey color in the scoreboard, instead of showing them in their team color. By this one could easily see if a player is dead or alive and it would not require a lot of changes in the hud.

So please, if you really need to work on mods, please let it be survival, because in my opinion, this is the only mod, which might be included in vanilla someday (leaving out race, because this will be included anyway, so there is really no need to work on that one, sushi has already a good version wink)

There was the suggestion to use "status codes" for the server-side messages, which should be sent to the client. The client could then use use the text message, which corresponds to that status code. Localisation would be very easy in that case, and also we maybe could save a bit of bandwidth, as not the whole text would need to be sent. However, this would require the add of status codes, every time we include a new server side message. I believe this was also the on reason why Oy did not like that method.

Translation of server-side messages is not planned as far as I know. There was the suggestion to do this on github, but Oy had some arguments against it, I don't remember them however. Oy's final result was that this won't be done, at least not for the 0.6 release.

Your translation will probably be included, as soon as someone makes a pull request for it on github wink. You can create your own github account and fork teeworlds from oy and create the pull request yourself, if you want.

@Lotrox: The Solution alias provided does not solve your problem, because what you want is simply not possible. what alias suggested is to bind the fire command also to the mousewheel which means you can also fire by scrolling up and down the mousewheel, which is kind of fast. I also use this method to be faster with the pistol. For shotgun, grenade launcher and laser, simply keep the +fire button (usually mouse1) pressed, and it will keep firing as soon as possible. For hammer and pistol, the method alias mentioned above is a very good solution.

I think the idea of the video is quite nice. However, I think it is too dark sometimes.
I guess it is only to try out things a bit, because it is very short, too short in my opinion.... So if it is only a try/preview/whatever, it's quite good. Otherwise, get more material to work with and do a longer/more interesting video.

@CarmineZ: You are wrong. As kottizen said, if you change the hosts file of your pc in the way he wrote above, the teeworlds client will not be able to connect to the masterservers. In order to change this hosts file, one needs administration rights, so normal users are not able to change the hosts file back into it's original state.

As mentioned before, please tell us which operating system you are using (Windows, Mac, Linux, or whatever).

1. You do not need to forward tcp, udp is enough.
2. Are you on the same local area network as the server? if yes, the server will only appear in your lan tab.
3. Have you set sv_register 1 in your configuration file?
4. If 2. and 3. apply to you, others should be able to see the server in their serverlist in the internet tab.

I think this mod is more or less useless, since the current teeworlds trunk done a lot of those things in a better way(in my opinion). Also this will not be compatible with the new version, because it is written in unrefactored style. Since ther is already a (not public) fixed release date, writing code for the old version is not usefull in my opinion, sice it wn't be usable soon.

One question: You said the problem appeared on both pcs after playing teeworlds. Did your son play on that server that behaved like a ctf server, but was named differently in both cases? Or in other word: Is it likely that the problem is related to that special server? If yes, it could be helpfull to tell the name (or ip address) of the server, and also the gametype under which it appeared. It could be possible that certain server was a modified one, which exploited a bug in the teeworlds client, which then resulted in the operating system being broken. There were similar causes already, but as far as I know it was only possible to crash the teeworlds client. No other damage was possible. Also this bug has already been solved. But as stated before, it might be possible that there are other bugs which are being exploited by modified servers. Telling us more about that certain server your son used might help us prevent further damage to other teeworlds users and close the bug (if there is one).

However, i doubt this problem is related to avira. As far as I know this is a very solid antivirus program. Antivirus programs are usually programmed very safely, thus i doubt there are many possible hacker attacks against it (especially i doubt one would use teeworlds for that, there are probably better methods if you want to affect the antivirus program. Also teeworlds is not that wide spreaded.)

For Your problem I recommend you to use a live boot disk like http://www.knoppix.org/ and to mount your harddrive and save your important files on an external harddrive or usb stick or cds  (whatever is available to you). If you need further information about how to do that, there are many guides in the internet, for example This one here (which is based on a different live boot disk though, namely ubuntu live CD). Google will also give you a lot of useful results. After that you can simply reinstall Windows and copy the saved files back on your pc.

I hope I was able to give you some help,

ghost
